PT228-35170 – Silver TOYOTA Letters – No TSS / No Camera (’16–’17)
This version fits 2016–2017 Tacoma models without Toyota Safety Sense (TSS). It uses the original TRD Pro grille mold introduced for the 2017 model year and does not include provisions for a TSS sensor or a front camera. Some shipments historically arrived with damaged clips due to early packaging issues, so units should be inspected before installation.
PT228-35180 – Silver TOYOTA Letters – With TSS, No Camera (’18+)
This revision adds the lower grille opening required for TSS compatibility while retaining the no-camera configuration. It is the correct choice for Tacoma models equipped with TSS but without a front camera. A separate TSS garnish is required. Toyota later restricted purchases of this part number by VIN due to high demand.
PT228-35200-AA – Silver TOYOTA Letters – With TSS + Front Camera Mount (’20+)
This version incorporates the factory front camera mount that became standard starting in 2020 on TRD Pro models with the panoramic view monitor. A TSS garnish is still required. This is the appropriate grille insert for vehicles equipped with — or planning to add — the factory front camera system.
PT228-35200-20 – Black TOYOTA Letters – With TSS + Front Camera Mount (TRD Lift Kit Variant)
This is the black-lettering counterpart to the 35200-AA grille and includes both TSS compatibility and the front camera mount. It is commonly packaged as the grille component within the Tacoma TRD Lift Kit and is seldom available outside that bundle.
PT228-35220-AA – Bronze TOYOTA Letters – With TSS, No Camera (Trail Edition ’22)
This version uses the same no-camera TRD Pro grille mold as the 35180 but finished with bronze TOYOTA block lettering. It corresponds to the 2022 Trail Edition aesthetic and does not require VIN authorization to purchase.
